BEACH TRAINING in Sand Pit on Hove Lawns, Brighton

There will be no training at Ringmer this weekend as we have been lucky enough to secure a booking for the surf lifesaving experience that is being run by Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club in the sand pit on Hove Lawns, Brighton.

Start 10am - finish 2pm

The places are limited to 20 and will be on a first come first served basis so don't miss out, get booked up now. The cost is a specially discounted £10 and you can pay via ClubPay.

The children will be coached in sea swimming techniques and how they differ from pool including warm up and down, entering and exiting the water, turning round buoy etc. It will also include Beach Flag sprint sports, Beach Awareness, Lifeguard Skills and a fun session at the end on rescue boards plus a relay competition.

All the equipment the children will need will be provided. However, if your child has their own wetsuit it would be advisable to bring this.

The children will be required to bring these things on the day:

Sun Cream, towel, swimming costume/ bikini (to be worn underneath wetsuit), lots of water, lunch & snack, wetsuit (they have a few to borrow but they are limited in number and sizes - bring your own if you have one) , rash vest (if you have one) and finally but most importantly shoes to wear into the sea. (Not Crocs or Flip Flops – old trainers are best)

The children will need to meet the instructor at 10am at the Peace Statue which is at the eastern end of the Hove Lawns.

The sessions are delivered by fully insured and accredited Surf Life Saving Coaches and/ or Trainers who are also Surf Life Saving GB Lifeguard qualified, hold a valid CRB (DBS) check and have recently undergone Safeguarding Training.
